The Marauder Wrestling Club (MWC) was formed in 2007 as Non-Profit Corporation recognized under the laws of the State of Michigan. It's mission is to provide a venue and opportunity for youths in the Warren-Sterling Heights-Troy communities to learn about and compete in the sport of wrestling.
MWC is a self-funded entity. It is financed through registration fees and fundraisers, of which there are two each year, a bowling fundraiser held in mid-November and a golf outing held in May. All funds raised are used to purchase uniforms and equipment, pay league and tournament registration fees and assist MWC members who desire to attend MWC sanctioned wrestling camps.
MWC will hold practices on two nights a week in 2017-18. Practices will be on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30-8:15pm in the Warren Mott High School wrestling room. The practice season will begin November 13, 2017 and will continue through the competition season, which begins in January and continues through mid-March. Competition opportunities are solely through Michigan Youth Wrestling Association [MYWAY]. The club strives to provide matside coaching to all MWC wrestlers who participate in those MYWAY tournaments listed as sanctioned tournaments on the MWC schedule.
Registration is scheduled for Monday, November 6, 2017 and Wednesday, November 8, 2017, from 6:30 - 7:30 pm outside Warren Mott High School's wrestling room. Registration Fee to join the club has been set at $85.00 per member for the 2017-18 Season. Membership will bear the following benefits:
1. Right to participate in wrestling practices on two nights of each week beginning November 13, 2017.
2. One Marauder Wrestling Club T-Shirt for new members;
3. Right to participate in all wrestling competitions on the MWC schedule (both MYWAY and MMWA) as a member of the MWC. (Competition fee - typically $10-15 per competition - will be required in addition to registration fee.)
4. Free admittance to all Warren Mott High School home wrestling meets, including Toys For Tots Tournament..
Any wrestler, age 5 through 8th grade, will be eligible to participate in scheduled competitions.
Our primary goal will be to teach folk-style wrestling, although some opportunities for freestyle wrestling will be available.
Look for flyers being distributed in the Warren Consolidated School District towards the middle to end of October each year.
