Marauders Split At MAC Blue Duals:

 After a poor performance in last week's second round of the MAC Blue Duals, the Warren Mott wrestling team took the weekend off and traveled to Mt. Pleasant, MI to watch CMU and UofM sqauare off at Central's new Event Center.  The Marauder coaches hoped their wrestlers might learn something about the strategy of dual meet wrestling.  To some extent, the field trip may have paid dividends in this week's MAC Blue duals.  Mott earned a split, winning over WCS rival Sterling Heights and dropping a tight match against MAC Blue favorite, Marysville...

Marauders Roll In MAC Blue Openers:

Warren Mott kicked off the MAC Blue competition season on Thursday night with duals against Fitzgerald and East Detroit at East Detroit High School.  The Marauders entered the league portion of the season sporting an 8-3 record and looking to make some noise in the league for the first time in several years.  The young Marauder team took a step in the right direction with two dual meet wins, bringing its record to a very respectable 10-3....

Troy Athens Duals Results:  Warren Mott wrestlers walked into the Troy Athens Duals as one of the younger teams in the field and surprised everyone as they went 4-0 in team dual competition and claimed the team championship.

Toys For Tots XV Results:  Warren Mott High School hosted the fifteenth version of the Toys For Tots' Takedown In Motown wrestling tournament this past Saturday with exceptional results for L'Anse Creuse North High School and the children of Southeastern Michigan....

WMHS 2009-10 News Articles

Regional Raid:  Two To States!  Warren Mott took two wrestlers to the MHSAA Regional Tourney this past weekend at Rochester High School and both wrestlers qualified for the State Tournament.  Senior Anthony Best and Junior Kyle Gray will wrestle for All-State honors at The Palace of Auburn Hills on March 4th, 5th and 6th.  Both wrestlers advanced to the semi-finals of the Regional Tournament before succumbing to the eventual Regional Champion....

Best In Class:  County 2009-10  Senior Captain Anthony Best currently enjoys a 16-1 record, having swept his competition at early season meets and tournaments before picking up his first loss to Macomb County Tournament Champion Chris Nash of Roseville in the Semifinals at the County Tournament.

Kyle The Friendly Giant.  Growing up in the 60s and 70s, kids were familiar with a children's show called "The Friendly Giant."  The show was "schmaltzy" and pedantic, but it focused on the fantasy of a giant who was gently and friendly enough to come into your living room and play with your kids.  It could have been about Warren Mott's 285lb varsity wrestler, Kyle Gray....

Riley Leads Matmen.  Senior Captain Scott Riley does not present an imposing figure.  Slender of build and quick with a smile, Riley seems friendly enough.  But put him on a wrestling mat and a fiery competitor emerges.....

2008-09 Mid-Season Report.  Warren Mott entered the 2008-09 season with grand aspirations.  The Marauders had lost two senior starters in Alex Fakhouri and Regional Qualifier Mike Paris, but for the first time in years it was anticipated that Mott would have a full line up....

Two Advance to MHSAA State Individual Tournament.  Five WMHS wrestlers competed at the MHSAA Regional tournament on Saturday, February 24, 2007, held at Troy High School.  Of the five regional qualifiers, two Marauders advanced to the State Individaul Tournament to be held March 8-11 at the Palace of Auburn Hills.  Joe Ceravolo and Rebwar Yousif move on....
